To configure the settings using PC configurator while connecting a PC and a device with a USB cable, the driver software is required.
Refer to the table below on the applicable hardware models and PC configurators.
By installing the driver software on a PC, a new serial port will appear on the PC.
Select this port as a COM port.

With a PC connecting to the Internet, the R30/TR30 USB Driver is automatically installed with the function of Windows Update when connecting to applicable models via a USB cable.
Or the updated driver software is downloadable at FTDI’s web site.

The driver software version used at the verification of the R30, TR30, DL30, R80, R3 and R7 are downloadable in this page.

Note: Before starting the installation, ensure that the driver is not installed by following the steps below.

1. Open the Device Manager with the device connected.
2. Check “Ports (COM & LPT)” and make sure “USB Serial Port (COMx)” is not displayed.
3. Disconnect the device from the PC.

Install the driver as follows.

Download the self-expanding installer (CDM212364_Setup.exe).
Locate the downloaded archive using Explorer on the Windows desktop.
Unzipped file folder will be created where the downloaded archive is located.

Install the R30/TR30 USB Driver without connecting a device to a USB port of a PC.
Execute the downloaded file with administrator authority to start installation.
Proceed with the installation according to the indication on the screen.
(A warning window may appear telling that Windows cannot verify the software, we have verified the operations however, continue the installation.)

Following the installation of USB Driver, proceed with the installation of Virtual COM Port Driver.

To uninstall the R30/TR30 USB Driver, uninstall from the Windows Device Manager.

1. Open the Device Manager with the device connected.
2. Right-click the connected device and select “Uninstall Device 
   Proceed with the uninstall according to the indication on the screen.

When using a Windows 10 PC, use the driver below.
Download the self-expanding installer (CDM v2.10.00 WHQL Certified.exe).
Locate the downloaded archive using Explorer on the Windows desktop. Unzipped file folder will be created where the downloaded archive is located.

Install the R30/TR30 USB Driver without connecting a device to a USB port of a PC. Execute the downloaded file with administrator authority to start installation.
Proceed with the installation according to the indication on the screen.
(A warning window may appear telling that Windows cannot verify the software, we have verified the operations however, continue the installation.)

Following the installation of USB Driver, proceed with the installation of Virtual COM Port Driver.

To uninstall the R30/TR30 USB Driver, use “Uninstall a program” in the Windows’ Control Panel. Uninstall the following two programs:

“Windows Driver Package - FTDI CDM Driver Package - Bus/D2XX Driver”
“Windows Driver Package - FTDI CDM Driver Package - VCP Driver”
