VR4896IMG is a file used to update the firmware of the VR4896 (model: VR4896E-G2).

Confirming the version
Click [Maintenance] and then [Information] on the device screen in order to confirm the version.

How to update the VR4896
If the power to the device is lost during the update, the device may stop functioning properly and might not be possible to redo the update. Perform the update connecting to a stable power source.
<Update procedure>
1. Downloading and extracting
Click [DOWNLOAD] and save "VR4896IMG_V101.zip" into any folder you like.
Extract the zip file with a decompressing tool.
After completing extracting, the file "VR4896.img" is created.
2. Preparing for the update
Save "VR4896.img" to an SD card using one of the following methods.
• Insert an SD card to the PC and save ‘VR4896.img’ into the folder "MG¥VR4896" in the SD card.
Stop the recording of the device and insert the SD card in which the "VR4896.img " was saved to the device.
• Enable FTP server and save "VR4896.img " to the root directory.
3. Backup the settings
Backup the settings using one of the following methods.
・ Start VR4896CFG on the PC, import the settings from the device and save them.
(Network settings cannot be saved from VR4896CFG, so make a note of them.)
・ Click [Maintenance] and [Read/Save setting] on the device screen.
Save the device settings and network settings to an SD card.
Normally, the settings are maintained after an update. However, if the settings are reset, write the saved settings using the latest configurator software or import the settings by clicking [Maintenance] and [Read/Save settings] on the device screen.
4. Update
Stop the recording of the device and press
[Maintenance] -> [Maintenance] -> [FW update] in order to perform the update of firmware.
After completing the update, the device is automatically rebooted. |
