In our factory, there are communication devices, which communicate each other via RS-485 full duplex cable. We’d like to install a surge protector for protecting the devices from lightning surge. We know M-System lightning surge protector, model MDP-4R but it is used for RS-485 half duplex cable.
Do we need to install 2 pieces of MDP-4R on the full duplex RS-485 line?
We recommend that you use our lightning surge protector, model MDW5-4R for full-duplex RS-485 communication line use. The MDW5-4R is applicable to 2 pair cables by 1 module. It enables you to reduce costs rather than use 2 pieces of the MDP-4R.
