Intrinsically safe approvals are available from ATEX Directive (Europe) and FM (US, Canada). Differences between the 6DV and the 6DVI exist only in safety parameters (See Table).

A safety barrier with matching safety parameters to the 6DV or 6DVI must be installed for complete intrinsic safety. The safety barrier should meet the Ex-data of this unit and must be approved for hazardous location.
